Reviews ofColeman Waterproof Matches, 4 Pack
These matches break easily and they are difficult to light.
They are probably waterproof but if it is that hard to light them when it's try, I hate to try when it's wet. Also, the match heads break off easily.
Try Swedish Firesteel instead
These maybe waterproof, i haven't tested that yet and they do light but they are the biggest pain in t he rear. if you try and strike them, even gently, they usually break in half. It may take a few strikes to light them and then they have so small a match head they they go out very quickly after lighting unless holding them at an extreme downward angle. This was all tested inside with no breeze or harsh conditions. I gave them to my roommates (all campers like me) to try and we all found the same thing: these are some fragile and poor-quality matches. Thank goodness I didnt have to test them out on a camping trip.
I purchased these matches to take on a hunting trip. I sealed the boxes in a heavy duty Ziploc freezer bag in my backpack. I live in southeast Alaska. The humidity is very high and we get a lot of rain. By day 2 on the trip the match heads as well as the boxes were too damp to light. The match heads just fell apart. (They were never submerged in water nor were they ever left out in the rain. They were only used inside an outdoor cook tent that was covered with a heavy tarp.) Very disappointing! Since these are also the matches I carried in my survival kit it could have been a disaster. I will replace them!!
